The Governing Board – Who we are & What we do
The Governing Board is composed of staff, parents and representatives of the local authority and our community.
Our remit as governors is to work as a team with the Head Teacher to provide strategic management for the school. The governing body sets the school's aims and objectives with a view to promoting high standards of education and achievement.
The whole Governing Board meets formally once every term and additionally when required. Each of the following sub-committees meets at least once a term.
The Finance Committee prepares the annual financial plan.
The Premises and Health & Safety Committee regularly reviews the condition of the school buildings.
The Learning and Teaching Committee advises on all matters relating to the curriculum, working with staff to review and revise teaching policies. It tracks the school performance: monitoring achievements against targets that have been set.
The Pay & Personnel Committee considers the staffing of the school and agrees any pay related changes.
Mrs Alysoun Glasspool
Chair of the Governing Board
Alysoun is a Co-opted governor and in addition to her role as Chair she is also a member of the Finance, Learning & Teaching, Premises and Pay & Personnel committees.
Ms Jessica Clarke
Vice Chair of the Governing Board
Jessica is a Co-opted governor and in addition to her role as Vice Chair of the Full Governing Board is also the Literacy Governor and PSHE Governor. She sits on the Learning & Teaching and Pay & Personnel Committees.

Mrs Moira Kendall
Chair of the Pay & Personnel Committee
Moira is a Co-opted governor and in addition to her role as chair of the Pay & Personnel committee, is also the Sports Premium Governor and a member of the Learning & Teaching and Finance & Premises committees.

Mrs Tracey White
Tracey is a Co-opted governor and is a member of the Learning & Teaching Committee. She is also the Science and Safeguarding Governor.

Mr David Palmer
David is a Co-opted governor and is a member of the Pay & Personnel Committee
Mrs Rachel Collins
Rachel is currently teaching Year 6 and is in her third year of teaching at HCJS.
Mr Alistair Holmes
Chair of Learning & Teaching Committee
Alistair is a Parent Governor and has been elected onto the Board by the parent body. He is the Numeracy and Digital / ICT Governor and is the Chair of the Learning & Teaching Committee.
Mr Richard Stephens
Chair of the Premises and Health & Safety Committee
Richard is an Co-opted Governor. He is the Chair of the Premises and Health & Safety Committee and a member of the Finance Committee.
Mrs Sara Barnes
Sara is a Parent Governor and was elected onto the board by the parent body. She is the SEN and Pupil Premium Governor and a member of the Learning & Teaching Committee.
Mrs Karen Sweetman
Karen is a Co-opted Governor and is the Chair of the Finance Committee. She also sits on the Premises and Pay & Personnel Committees.
