Wellbeing and reflection

The wellbeing of our children at HCJS during this difficult situation.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As most of our children continue on this extended period of homeschooling, I thought it would be a good time to share with you the valuable reflection time we share regularly during our Jigsaw PSHE lessons and assemblies.

I am sure you will agree that the impact of this unprecedented time is difficult enough for us to comprehend, let alone our children.

Reflection time is when the children can clear their heads and calm their minds. We do this to prepare them for learning and/or to give them an opportunity to reflect on specific things, sometimes related to our values, things they are proud of or to give them time to put thoughts into words. I’m sharing this with you now, because it may be a very useful tool to give your child an opportunity to relax and be calm, bur equally, to help them make sense of the world they are experiencing right now.

I have attached a typical script we use and adapt at school.

Also, we are increasingly using calming music (youtube) as a background for the children while they work, change, read and enter and leave the classroom and hall. It works!

I hope this is helpful and that you are, at least, able to enjoy the unexpected time we have to spend with our children.
