Year 4: Home Learning - Summer term 1

Dear Children, We hope you are all staying safe and well at home!
We thought we would provide an updated list of activities that you could attempt during the Summer Term. If you have not completed all of the tasks from the Spring Term grid, please feel free to choose some of those tasks instead. You can take a photograph of your learning if you like, and ‘hand it in’ either on Google Classroom or on the Purple Mash class blog. Or just keep it at home and we will share it when you come back to school! We will also be setting some new 2Dos on Purple Mash, so check those as well for some ideas! Please ask any of the teachers if you have any questions at all!
White Rose Maths have brought out a Summer Term timetable with online ‘lessons’ and activities. If possible, could you complete one of these lessons and relevant worksheets a day? They can be found by clicking on this link You need to click on work for the Summer Term and work through them. So far, they have brought out Weeks 1 and 2, but will add more weeks as the term goes on. We will also upload these onto Google Classroom. If you can ‘hand them in’ on Google Classroom, that would be wonderful, but, if not, the answers are there and your parents could mark your work with you.
Alternatively, (or if you get stuck!) you could log onto My Maths and try some of the online lessons that are there. There are also some games and activities for you to try. Please also remember to spend 10 minutes a day on TT Rockstars if you can!!
We have included some Literacy ideas in the grid below.
Carry on with reading, reading, reading - as much as you can! It would be lovely if you could take a picture of the books that you have been reading, or of you reading around the house or garden and upload it to the blog! Tell us about the books you have read and share some ideas! I have uploaded some Reading Challenge Cards to Google Classroom. Have a go at some of the activities on the cards. Please also remember to log onto Bug Club and work through some of the comprehension questions. We’d like to remind you to write proper sentences in the answer boxes as we can log on and see what you have written!
Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar
We will continue to upload some SPAG activity sheets onto Google Classroom. Perhaps you could try one of these a week. You can write the answers onto paper if you haven’t got a printer. You could then either take a photo and ‘hand it in’ or just mark it with your parents (the answers will be there for you to check afterwards!) Please continue to practise your spellings on Spelling Shed.
Creative Writing
We will also add some Creative Writing suggested activities onto Google Classroom. It would be lovely to read some of your stories or pieces of non-fiction writing. If any of these ideas inspire you, have a go!
Finally, there are a lot of websites where you can find ideas and activities across all subjects. Here are a few!
BBC Bitesize is running a virtual school! Click on the link for more information, but BBC Iplayer and the red button will host Bitesize Daily which will consist of 6 20 minute shows which will cover some of the topic and subject areas that each year group would have been studying at real school this summer!
The educational website Twinkl is offering lots of their resources free to children and parents. You have to enter this code when you sign up CVDTWINKLHELPS
